The Iqbal Lab—a Bioinformatics and Machine Learning Group—is part of the Ladders 2 Cures (L2C) Accelerator Initiative at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, MA, USA. It is led by Sumaiya Iqbal. We develop methods, resources, and tools to decipher the protein structure-function relationship between genetic/synthetic mutations and molecular phenotypes to aid in translating genetic discovery into mechanism and drug discovery.
The focus of Iqbal Lab is threefold:
➡️ Build bioinformatics resources to bridge the gap across complex multi-omics data types (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and structural biology) at scale to aid in the wholistic analysis of drug target ↔ disease pairs.
➡️ Generate methods to unveil the molecular effect of genetic/synthetic mutations on protein structure-function relationships using computational biology, biophysics, and machine learning.
➡️ Develop AI/ML-driven innovative tools and technology for small-molecule hit identification using data from DNA-encoded library screening, HTS, etc.
We work across all disease areas, with a special focus on rare genetic diseases and pediatric cancer.
Our lab is known for developing and maintaining the Genomics 2 Proteins Portal ↗️ check it out!
